BOBBI JO SMITH – Co-Junior Advisor
Please join me in welcoming Bobbi Jo Smith as the new Co-Junior Advisor.
Bobbi Jo Smith, a native to South Florida and graduate of Palm Beach Community College, began showing beef cattle at the ripe age of 4. Bobbi Jo’s professional career was in dentistry and in recent years she was able to follow her passion and redirect her career path to the agricultural and livestock industry. Currently she works with the Florida Department of Agriculture, Division of Animal Industry. She is a long time volunteer and a member of the livestock committee with the South Florida Fair. She is also the co-leader for the “Muck Kids” 4-H club.
Bobbi Jo’s greatest passion is her teenage son, Lane, who began showing and building a herd of registered Angus cattle about 6 years ago. Along with the help of his Granddad, Lane owns and operates a small show swine herd too. He let’s Bobbi Jo “work” for him in her “spare” time, hauling him to shows, washing, feeding and taking care of his herds, but there’s nothing in the world she’d rather do.
Spending time teaching, volunteering, mentoring and helping today’s youth learn about agriculture and livestock and their futures, brings great joy and happiness to Bobbi Jo. Being a member of the American Angus Association, the Florida Junior Angus Association, the South Florida Fair and Florida 4H clubs has allowed her to meet a multitude of wonderful families and individuals who have mentored and taught her much over the years. They have also become her dearest friends. Bobbi Jo is very thankful to those who have given so much to her and her son; Her goal is “to give back what she was given and more”.
